Rear Side Window Lower Trim Fitting??
Hi,
Apologies for numpty question, but I have searched the forum as I'm sure the question has been asked before, unfortunately I cannot find any threads. Have a 940 estate with the NSR lower window trim missing, been like that since I bought it as a stopgap motor, the original metal trim was loose in the boot along with a brand new side trim rubber seal from Classic Volvo Parts B3518367/8 Bit of a loose end today, and getting the car ready for MOT on 20th May, so replaced damaged front number plate, relatively easy 10 minute job after having to grind a slot in screw head to undo. Thought I would simply slide on the spare new trim clips on the little buttons that sit just below the side window. However I am stumped for how the rubber trim fits between the trim and side window glass??? It has a shallow recess where it fits the trim, and as soon as I fit together it looks OK, but as soon as I handle it to try to put up against the window, the rubber seal drops or moves..... I have some spare clips and have checked how the trim/clip go together, so once all aligned properly, a few well placed 'taps' should locate everything. V Frustrating and I dare say there is a simple solution, any suggestions gratefully received. Cheers Steve |

Hi Luke,
Sorry, yes the NSR boot/luggage area side window that has the radio aerial embedded in the glass, and its the long lower metal trim strip that has the rubber up against the glass. Any pointers welcome, as everytime I offer the trim/rubber up, the rubber falls off. Cheers Steve Last edited by Steve 940; Apr 30th, 2024 at 12:46. |

Oh and the rubber needed trimming where the metal has some scallops missing to allow the retaining clips to pass through. |

boot area side window lower seal.
Gentlemen, am I to deduce from your conversation, that there is no article describing how to replace the shrunken rubber window seal ? I mean from start to finish including materials required.
That would be a great shame because I understand it`s a common problem and one which I`m also going to have to deal with soon. |

Yeah I got the seals but no definite way to glue them on. Trim tape or silicone I'm thinking. Silicone seems to work ok for now, haven't attempted re-attaching the whole unit yet.

The old one didn't seem to have been glued on either, there wasn't any residue |
