Question V50 abs

Just had the car in to have an ABS sensor (front right) replaced as it was diagnosed with it being faulty (ABS light on, engine light on etc). After being replaced at a cost of £97 (not Volvo garage) all lights are still on. Now needs to go back in to have the wiring checked. As a matter of interest, is there a fuse for the ABS? Clutching at straws really. I cannot find a wiring diagram for a 2008/9 Volvo V50 2.0D Powershift. Is there one available anywhere?

Thanks

Brian

Had the same problem with my S40. If the wiring checks out OK, then also take a look at the wheel bearing.

If the wheel bearing is badly worn, or if it has been replaced in the past and is not fully seated, then the ABS sensor will be too far away from the magnetic ring on the rear face of the wheel bearing and will not be able to detect it properly.

If the wheel bearing is replaced it must be pressed in without any lubricant (and preferably with a 'bearing lock' adhesive) as it is a friction fit in the bore. On my car the bearing had slid out of the bore by about 1mm and this was enough to cause an intermittent fault with the ABS sensor in that wheel.

If you need a wiring diagram, search for 'Volvo EWD' and you should be able to find the correct one for your model year.
