Have a look at the contact points in the bottom of the distributor , not the ignition coil points , the Fuel injector points. they may need a clean .

Dave;

Fuel Rail Pressure is probably OK as it also supplies the Cold Start Injector, but it would be one of the first things to verify when troubleshooting the D-Jet System. See: https://www.sw-em.com/bosch_d-jetron...sure_Regulator

To check if Injectors are supplying fuel to engine, here is a good test: https://www.sw-em.com/bosch_d-jetron...Fuel_Injectors ...main Injector pulsing is generated as a function of contacts in Distributor as Clan notes. These are not really adjustable but should be clean and lubed a bit.

General D-Jet troubleshooting guide: https://www.sw-em.com/bosch_d-jetron..._fault_tracing

Good Hunting!

What year is your car? If it has fuel injection I'm assuming that it is a 1800E or 1800ES?

When checking the D jet triggering contacts in the base of the distributor, closely inspect the wiring. The D jet wiring suffers from insulation deterioration and the wiring may have failed at the plug body. Bosch / Volvo did not select a very durable wire insulation for the D jet harness. You can do spot repairs; but, give the complete D jet wiring harness a very close visual inspection; because I am willing to bet a beer that the insulation is crumbling at most of the plug bodies.

Wiring, wiring insulation and terminal failures are a huge contributor to D jet mal operation. Limited damage can be repaired; but, be sure to check the complete harness because after 50 years the damage is rarely limited. Complete new injector harnesses are available.
