Default New Owner - XC90 Voice Assistant.

Hi all,

I have just purchased a my20 XC90 twin engine R-Design.

I am having trouble with my voice assistant button. When I push the button I get nothing even If I long press with phone connected via Bluetooth.

The button work twice when I got the car. I don't even get the picture of the face t when I press it.

So my question is, should that button work without a phone?
Am I doing something stupid😀.

On a side note I cannot get Android Auto working. Can you confirm my car has it or do I need to buy and upgrade?

Thanks

You do not need a phone, the button should work all the time, Android auto is an optional extra, do you have twin usb ports in armrest.

I do have the twin port. But don't see AA in app menu either.

If anyone knows any trouble shooting tip for Voice assistant. I have factory reset screen.

Initially cars came with only one USB port but twin USB ports became standard probably around the time your car was built. However, twin ports doesn't mean that AA or CarPlay are installed. These are a chargeable option at £300 for both but are often available on offer for less.

Not aware there's much you can do. A short press is all that's required normally so it's either a software problem or a button problem. Some people have required new steering wheel controls because of problem buttons.

Yes, even without the phone you should be able to voice control the climate settings, for example.

If the car has smartphone connection support then one of the USB sockets has a white ring around it. That's the one with Android Auto compatibility.
My car also has apps for Android auto and Apple car play. My car is a Sensus version.

Button now working with a little finesse. Hope it's good to go now.

I'll go to my dealer to see if I can get a deal on AA with a service plan.

Thanks for all your replies.
