I decided to go for a Powerflex polyurethane replacement, as I understand they last forever. I managed to install it with the mounting bracket in place, with a combination of various clamps and gentle taps with a piece of timber and hammer

The Haynes manual says after setting the correct torque, turn the bolt again 60 degrees. What is the best tool to use to turn the bolts 60 degrees accurately?
60 degrees is one flat one flat on a hex nut, so tighten by a further one sixth of a complete turn. Alternatively you can get a torque angle gauge if you want an exact set e.g.

Thanks ASt85, that looks like a useful tool and not expensive either.

I went for a test drive to make sure the coolant level I changed was fine and noticed from inside the cabin, the sound of the engine 'roared' a bit louder on acceleration. I person I spoke to at PFS (where I bought the mount from) said he experienced the same after installing one in his 850 (with a standard exhaust). I don't feel there's as much vibration as people have described after installing a polyurethane mount. Perhaps I like the rumble and sound of the 5 cylinders I had a look at my 'Front Centre Tie Bar Mounting' (front passenger side of the lower engine) and that needs replacing too. Installing a replacement looks simple enough with just four bolts to undo and torque. The Haynes manual says after setting the correct torque, turn the bolt again 60 degrees. What is the best tool to use to turn the bolts 60 degrees accurately?
It will be interesting how you get on with the power flex bush. It is much stiffer than the original - in good condition - and can introduce vibrations into the cabin.

I tried fitting one to my ''94 850 some years ago, three days later changed it back to new one from a VColvo dealer....
The vibration transmitted up the steering column from the engine caused the most appalling steering wheel vibration I have ever experienced.

Default Replaced bumper brackets

Finally got round to replacing the bumper brackets just over a week ago and boy did they need doing. The long vertical bolts only just came out without snapping. The 2 smaller bolts that hold each bracket onto the frame also required a lot of patience. Copper grease on everything I put back.

Whilst I was there I also liberally coated the exhaust hanger with silicone grease as I had to drop the rear exhaust in order to access the bracket bolt.

Default MOT time again

Took the V70 Tdi for its annual MOT today to the local Volvo dealer who has done every MoT on the car to date. Happily it passed but with with two advisories, both for minor cracking on two of the tyres. I'll treat it to some new ones.

I was quite amused by where they parked it after the test!

Obviously demonstrating the longevity of the classic Volvo products.

What is also interesting is that the V70, back in the day, was considered a large car. Parked alongside a current 'monster truck' it looks positively Dinky.

Indeed. It was dwarfed by most of the other vehicles there.

It's in my to do list, I've got new brackets and have got some stainless steel bolts to use for a fraction of the cost Volvo wanted, no doubt mine will fall apart when i get cracking too, I'm just gonna get the grinder out if needs be lol 😆

Just did mine recently had front & rear off to fill scratches & repaint. I had to drill a large hole thru the main alloy channel to access one of the bolts that hold it to the car, because the long vertical bolt snapped off. Robert has a very good utube on removing bumpers with seized or broken vertical bolts. The lower front bumper can actually be taken off separately from the top half, which makes painting a lot easier, less masking. I also used the Wurth anthracite on the dark pieces & it looks great, I will report on how long it works.
