Default Smart energy distribution icon occasionally disappears

Hi all,

One month in, and I'm still getting used to all of the nuances of the XC90 (AAOS). Generally really enjoying it so far!

One thing I've noticed - when driving in Hybrid mode (with battery set to auto) and a route programmed in GMaps, the smart energy distribution icon will sometimes disappear from the driver's display. When it does, it *seems* like the "smartness" stops too. By which I mean the little petrol drop icon on the power guage stops moving around, which I've been taking as an indicator of the smartness being applied.

After a few minutes, the icon seems to come back on its own, at which point it seems that the smartness resumes. Alternatively, it seems to be possible to force it to come back, by clearing your route in Maps, and then setting it again.

My question is - is this expected behaviour, or a bug?

I've seen this same behaviour on both 3.0.3 and 3.1.9, btw.

Thanks!

It's a bug introduced in 2.14 iirc.

In 3.1.9 it seems slightly better, for some of the releases in between it was completely missing.

Looks like *something* updated yesterday, not sure what. AAOS still at 3.1.9, and GMaps shows last updated at the end of June.

Yet something has to have changed, as my driver's display now includes ETA information for routes, and (so far at least) the smart energy icon seems to be more stable. Perhaps a feature flag in GMaps was flipped?

Anybody else seeing this change?

Will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

Not all maps data has the topological info so you will loose the icon if it has no info on a section of the route.

I've not noticed ourselves so go missing.

Interesting, that's useful to know.

The icon used to regularly disappear on my commute, but now it doesn't. So either they've added the missing data, or something else has changed.

Given the fact that, at the same time, I'm now getting the ETA info in the driver's display, I still feel like they've updated the app somehow.
