Hi,

That looks vaguely similar to the rubber boot fitted over the leaf spring ends on the 960/90's.
Can't be though...

but is the car running ok with this unidentified object.... if it is... then just take a picture of it, best use a pin-hole camera or a Kodak Brownie 127... and we can all sleep peacefully in our 940 estates...
