Not necessarily, it can also mean problems with the mixture, broken wires etc.

All it is saying is the voltage is out of spec, which can have many causes.

Unhappy Location of Lambda Sensor

Hello All,

Can you tell me where is the sensor is? My haynes manual seems a bit vauge. My emissions light has come on so from what what you say here I need to have it diagnosed to see what code it is then I will know the fault. Are my assumptive ramblings correct?

Thanks

Graham

First suggest you read the codes (you don't need the lambda sensor for this!). Depending on what year your car is, you may or may not need a reader. Suggest you consult the FAQ or have another look in Haynes-it's there!
As others have said, may be nothing to do with your lambda, that's why you need the codes.
All the best,

I had a lamda light come on in my 940 Sports...not long after I had got it in fact..day or two later..I suspect the guy's I bought it off disconnected the battery to extinguish the lamda lamp...i had it tested..and it was found to be ok..but they still said it's not as simple as..it works or doesn't.

It could be enough out of spec to be illuminating the lamp..the car was A1 on emissions etc.

However...I decided that I would send my injectors off to Jim on the forums here...and got them back two day's later...fired the car up..huge improvement BTW...so I assumed hmmm had to disconnect battery to do the change..so I assumed the light would come back on in a 'few starts'...it never did..

Injector..one in particular..was dropping way too much fuel...not to say this is 'your' problem, but normally it's always assumed it's the sensor..I assumed this too...

Just thought it was worth mentioning?
