Load rating for 940 estate tyres help
Does anyone know off hand the minimum load rating for a 940 estate tyres. 195 65 R15. Going to have to get a set of winter tyres. At moment spend most of my time driving sideways. Perhaps should fit wipers to side windows.
Any tips on which brand to go for welcome. |

I've just bought my second set of winter tyres for my 940 from this co. I got Continental winter conti ts810 part worn and put them on yesterday... completely different car from the day before.. I have 30 all round at pres.
Anyway take a look at this link as an example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/195-65-15-Unir...item4aa5fe01b5 |

I have Bridgestone Turanza ER 300 195/65 R15 91H , but it's not a winter tyre. Lots of threads on tyres here, everyone has their pet make!
My Volvo 940 manual is not specific on load/speed rating, but does mention 87T, so guess this is OK. Last edited by RealEstate; Nov 28th, 2010 at 23:30. |

I take it everyone does realise that the majority of the German winter tyres being sold on evil bay are there because they get discarded at somewhere between 4 and 5 mm of tread? At that point they're legal, but the snow performance is seriously diminished. The tyres start life with 8mm of tread.
Having said that my current set are at the 4-5mm point and I still towed a car trailer up a snow covered unmade track leading to a Farm without thinking twice about it today. I use Vredestein Snow Trac 2 on my 940. Last edited by 940_Turbo; Nov 28th, 2010 at 23:50. |

Thanks reckon will go for 90+ rating as I tend to load up the car well. Not sure what make of winter tyres. Not much to choose from at moment. Our local tyre service ran out begginning of November cos of last winter. Going to be new though. I never use second hand tyres cos you can't be sure how they have been treated.
Thanks again Alasdair |
