Default Brake Circuit Dashboard Light (!)

Hi guys!

Has anyone ever had the problem of an intermittent (!) light coming on on the dash? Naturally I was a bit worried when it first came on as I looked it up and realised it was Brake Circuit Failure – Stop immediately :/ Tends to occur at lower speeds. Above 20mph and below 40?? Never see it on the motorway.

Being a typical bloke, as the brakes worked perfectly fine ive carried on driving the car and havent seen any noticable changes – brakes work fine and the brake fluid level is as it should be.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

I think it may be worth noting that maybe a year ago now, I had the age old ABS ECU problem. That was fixed by splitting it, cleaning it and resoldering the dodgy electrical joints. Im just wondering now whether the gremlins have returned again to the ECU but maybe to a different part, but don’t really want to take it apart again unnecesssarily.

I could carry on driving as it is but im now starting to worry that it will fail the MOT because of this?? So I better pull my finger out and sort it…

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Roman

It usually indicates that the brake fluid level is too low.

If the fluid level is fine I would then be checking the wiring to the sensor to see if there are any shorts or a loose connection.
