Default Front caliper slide pins seized

after getting the back pads changed yesterday, thought i'd do the front ones today. went to remove the 2 12mm bolts that hold the brake pads in and the 12mm socket i had is just slipping round on the top and bottom bolts, tried an 11mm socket which won't fit either. as a workaround, i removed the 2 15mm bolts from the hub and got the new pads in that way but the bottom slide pins on both front callipers are seized so i can't back off the caliper to accommodate the 2 outer pads.

anyone have any idea how i can get these pins out of the caliper so i can get copper slip into them once freed off.

if need be, will any s40 callipers fit or do i need them specifically for the T4?

thanks

Option 1 is to use an 11mm impact socket and hammer it in. WIth a bit of luck, it is going to undo the bolts.

If you can't do that, then you could just slide out the carrier as seen in my photo. Then press in the piston and then fit everything together.

Or get a new caliper.

sorry gatos but the bottom slide bolt on both calipers are seized solid, can't get any movement either way so i can't get the new pads in as the slide pin is fully out as the pads were near metal, managed to put 1 new pad in at the piston and use the old pads on the outside just now to keep it moving but it's looking like calipers then (

Remove the caliper and gently knock it with a hammer. If they are not seized that badly, then you might be able to break loose the rust. If not, then replacement calipers? I have a few lying around

Heat ! Use a blow torch to heat up the sliders whilst gunning off the bolt. Just make sure that its concentrated on the slider and steer clear of the piston housing. They come apart with ease.

cheers gatos, 2 healthy whacks with a heavy hammer sorted that out, packed the slide pins with copper slip & got new pads all round now, tried 'em at 80 tonight, no hands! stopped in a straight line, brakes like a new car now ;
