As a newbie Volvo owner I'm trying to do a little groundwork on a cable AND software that will allow me to enable/disable functions on the car.
I purchased a generic cable a while ago for my Citroen but all it could do was read/reset fault codes and read engine data, was pretty useless for anything else.. My new pride and joy (and HOPEFULLY reliable new car is a ) S40 2.0D 2009. Any advice appreciated Thank you John |

Possibly the best piece of advice is to post in the correct section of the forum. This is for series 1 S40s (and V40s).

Errrr SERIES 1 includes both PHASE 1 S40s and V40s and PHASE 2 includes S40 and V40....
So you can get: Series 1 Phase 1 S40 Series 1 Phase 1 V40 Series 1 Phase 2 S40 Series 1 Phase 2 V40 (an example of which I own) However the Series 2 S40 is a completely different car. TimR |

Best of luck with the car, decided to not go with the later model of car due to the reliability issues, especially with the 2.0D Ford diesel (start saving for the replacement DPF).

Good call Mitch
As well as the catastrophic DMF which also takes out the starter motor. TimR |
