My First 200
Hello everyone,
I am proud to announce that I have finally given the world of the 200 series a try. I bought, for around 1200 quid, a Volvo 264. She is a 264 as far as it looks, with USDM quad round lights. Under the bonnet, she has a B230E from a 740. Mated to that is a m47 5-speed manual, from a 89 240. The brown-cloth interior comes from a 83 240, same goes for the power windows, and mirrors. Anyways, while I am loving the car now, there are a few issues that get me. 1. It is LOUD. It seems that all the noise from the engine can be heard in the cabin. It is loud compared to other 240s and 260s I have been in. 2. It shakes at idle. The whole engine in the engine bay can be seen rocking from side to side... 3. The exhaust is loud, it doesn't sound smooth, and it rattles a lot. Please advise me where should I start on correcting these issues, as I am very unfamiliar with these cars, as all my other cars are 3.0 Whiteblocks.... Cheers and Thanks, Skavac

Welcome to the fold.
A lot of your problems are most likely down to injector seals. You want to replace both the big fat O rings around the injectors and also the thinner O rings around the plastic bucket. The buckets and get brittle with age and are not expensive to replace while you are there |
