Default making my 5 seat v70 a 7 seat

Hi I recently purchased a 2000 plate v70 5 seater and immediately bought a set of boot seats from ebay...looks simple enough to do...was just wondering whether anyone else has done it and if there's any tips I need to know before they arrive in a Cpl of days...cheers

Fairly straight forward as long as you have all the bits, belts etc, and you must have a space saver spare. The original kit came with a good set of instructions, I'm sure you can download them.

As far as I know the 7 seaters have an internal tailgate release toggle - might be worth checking it out. Insurance could require it for egress if things went pear shaped. Some 5 seaters have rigged them up as if and when the lock motor gubbins plays up it is the only way to open the gate.

The genuine 7 seaters have a key lock on the tailgate lid and I believe the handle as Brendan says.

One forward one back, thats how 'us five' were crammed in, not a belt nor child lock in sight ,,, none of this shoving weens into the crumple area nonsense where they learn to 'finger' following motorists...

Back in the day when my father was going through one of his phases he bought a Reliant Scimitar. Trouble his, he had a wife and four children. So two smallest went in the back parcel bit.

I must say i thought Plod reacted very badly to conversions, even with the right bits in, because now the carry capacity of all cars is recorded on the V5, and if you change that and don't notify, they have you bang to rights. This also affects some limos and supersports cars where there is explicitly only 2 seats in the back, not 3...

Cool

Just been looking through the owners manual, such a conversion, according to Volvo, insists that load cargo nets and fixed guards are removed from the car so that they can never create a barrier for the children to escape in the event of an accident.

Does the roof mounted dog guard collapse forward on impact creating a barrier?
