Can anyone explain if and if so how the speed camera locations would be updated as I believe the system on my 2012 XC70 is DVD disc based. I'm currently using a reprogrammable TomTom in the central locker on full volume just for audible speed camera warnings. If full up to date locations are programmable into the Volvo system, that would be preferable and I'd jump at it.

I don't know about the dvd's, they are usually available at a (high) cost. For my 2015 model it is free and a new update has just come out. I have to download it onto a 64gb usb stick, but with my connection it would take a week.

Hmmmm...I'm afraid that I'm of the opinion that if anyone can't see a big yellow box on an 8ft pole, then finding the settings may be the least of their worries.

That's hardly the problem. The problem is of course that even a driver who tries to adhere to speed limits may focus on something else on the road and accidentially pass a camera too fast. For such a driver an alert is good.

For MMM2, you can install one or more User POI files (Points Of Interest). These files may contain any kind of points, like abandoned air force bases, ice cream sales, windsurfing spots or whatever. You can assign a symbol and, if you like, an audible warning to them.

It's this feature you use to install a file with positions for the cameras you want. In many countries you can download such files, maintained by people due to their interest in such things, and install in your car.

Thank you all for your replies .
I've tried to find in settings and in a manual but there is no mention of speed cameras at all. I've found POIs but there are only amenities.
The system I have is DVD based one.
Should I check with a dealer if system has to be updated?
As per you experience is it a FOC service or a charged one?
If latter is it worth it or should I stick to the after market Garmin?

...as a motorcyclist of some 30+ years, that fully sums up those who have only ever experienced driving from the safety of a 'cage' where they're too busy fiddling with the radio, playing with the aircon or looking no further than the end of the bonnet.

And the fact that many speed cams now are "average speed" so seeing the "big yellow box" is usually too late.
Add the fact that the "average speed cameras" are now 1) digital 2) on the M25 hidden behind the gantries or in other non visible locations and 3) The newest cams (M25, nottinghamshire and elsewhere) are BOTH average speed and spot speed the that advise seems a little simplistic..

It is easier in nottinghamshire mind as most of the moronic drivers I encounter are doing 5-10mph below the speed limits anyway out of the fear of god that they'll somehow mysteriously trigger the cameras!

If you have the older DVD based system I suspect you'd need to upgrade (at some significant cost) so the latest info is available. But even that'll be out of date.
Some smartphone app is likely better overall.

Des. . .
