Error Codes P0489 & P0245
Hi All,
My D5 (2005) has just hit 208K miles. It was running fine until the other day when I changed the gearbox oil as the gears were very hard to engage when cold. Changing the gearbox oil cured that problem however on start up directly after changing the oil I was given the following: Engine Service Required & High Emissions Warning The car then went into limp mode. I have read the error codes, P0489 (EGR Circuit Low) and P0245 (Turbo Wastegate Solenoid Low). Please can anyone give me any guidance on what action to take? I am guessing cleaning/potentially replacing the EGR valve but no idea regarding the turbo solenoid. If I reset the fault codes they reappear instantly. Thanks, |

Just to update you, turns out one of the fuses (No:5) if I can remember correctly had blown. I have changed this and the car is fine now, the new fuse hasn't blown yet.
Guessing there must of been a slight surge or the fuse had gone weak over the years. Thanks, |

My 2006 XC70 D5 was sitting for a few weeks. Running perfectly until Monday when i went to start it and the battery (original) was a bit low and struggled to start the car. Immediately through up engine service required and car had no power and a fair bit of smoke. P0489 is code but no turbo code. Clear it and it comes right back. Got a new Varta battery today and was going to haul off the egr on Friday, it was new in 2016 at 52000miles, now has 75000m. I`ll check the fuse first. Good shout.
