Hi all.
I have the infamous 'chuffing'. #1 is leaking so it seems time for a reseal. Been into my local dealer and they tell me there is no longer a kit available to do this alone. Apparently there 'used' top be but now one can only buy the kit as part of a brand new injector - strangely, that cost is more than my lovely old bus is worth!! Firstly, is this a DIY job? Access certainly looks not too bad (famous last words I know!). Secondly, exactly what bits do I need to get, and bearing in mind Volvo's helpful feedback, where do you guys recommend I get them from? Speedy delivery is vital as its drinking fuel and gassing me as I drive!! ![]() TIA ![]()

You can get the seals off ebay, i had the chuffing injector myself but all i did was get the seals and then got my trusted garage to sort it, didn't use a volvo kit and the injector clamp and pipes were reused with no problems.

you might find the seat in the head is damaged from the injector moving . it can be re cut with a special tool . The spring clamps must only be used once , otherwise you risk this kind of problem .. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...p+kit&_sacat=0

Have a look at it first clean it out , the base should be clean and unmarked aluminium . There is a cutter tool most garages would have these days if it is damaged ... you might find the thick copper sealing washer stuck in the bottom of the recess if it has been re used .

I got a genuine Volvo injector fitting kit on ebay for less than £30, and I highly recommend the fitting kit and not just a seal.
As Clan says the seat can be damaged, any I've done so far have been fine. The kit includes a new bracket when bends into shape as you tighten, obviously keeping pressure on the injector. Very cleaver design in my opinion and much better than the poxy 1.6D design! Yes, pretty much a DIY job providing the injector isn't stuck in the hole. If it has been leaking for a while carbon may have build up around the injector.

I had a leaky injector on my D5 (163hp). My local independent quoted for a new injector - a lot of money but they were able to fit a sealing kit instead. What they did warn was that they can be difficult, sometimes impossible to remove without damaging the head. Good luck

This is probably the best video you'll find for a tricky injector, he's a member on here although can't remember his username on here
