Default Any Mechanic recommendation in Kent

I have an xc90 2008 diesel that has white smoke coming out. Showed it in Charlwood and they said I might have to change the engine, turbo and possibly even the gear box. I doubt it needs a replacement engine as the engine was in good condition and so smooth until the white smoke scenario.

The white smoke filled the whole road one day as I was driving. I had to get it towed into the garage. They said they would only replace the engine to start with and could not figure out what else could be wrong with it. Any one knows any enthusiastic mechanic that can actually solve this crisis for me. I can get the car towed into them. I do not need the vehicle for a while so time is not an issue. I want to save the car as otherwise it is in great shape.

It could even be just the turbo causing this. I live in Tonbridge.

Any help however small is appreciated. I can’t afford a replacement engine and gearbox.

May be a bit of a treck, but I use the Volvo workshop at wickford Essex. John Simmons. I can almost guarantee he will sort it.

Others may we'll be able to advise more local but you probably need it transported in any case so where is less important.

I hope this helps.

You think theyd do a compression test, cooling system pressure test, have a bit of an attempt at checking the basics before prescribing a new engine. So much for independents, eh?

If you can get it across to Ashford Lipscob's are decent. They used to be a Volvo dealer but binned the franchise at that site a few years ago. Theyre now a Fiat dealer - with Fiat dealer rates - but still do Volvo work, still have all the paid access to Volvo tech support. They look after my Dad's C70 summer toy and he swears by them.

Whatever, best of luck with getting it resolved.
