Default C70 aircon

My 2008 C70 has a non-working aircon.

I took it to a garage to have a re-gas but they said they couldn't do it as it was leaking through the compresser.

Does anyone have an idea how much this will cost to fix and recommendations in the east Surrey area who will do a good job?

Many thanks.

hello, do you mean its leaking through the condenser instead of comresor?

a condenser leak is very common and any garage around you will be able to swap in a new condenser.

compresor failure leak ive not heard of, unless they mean your compresor clutch isnt engaging correctly. This is a more expensive fix to replace the compresor. You can eiher replace the unit which is an expensive fix or the clutch gap can be corrected.

there is plenty of videos online to identify clutch gap issues on the compresor. But I would take it to a proper garage unless you plan on doing it yourself. It sounds like you took your car to halfords shop and they will not repair cars.

Thanks for that.

Now you say condenser or compresser, I can't remember what they actually said at the garage.

I guess that I should take it to another garage and get them to see what's wrong but I guess it won't be cheap!

A bit miffed as the new ULEZ charge coming in within the whole of greater London, the cost of diesel and the whole road tax charge is really putting me off of my C70 D5.

Then I drive it and all is forgiven.

replacing a condenser is a cheap fix as these units do not cost much at all and labour to replace this part is very straight forward.

Your issue sounds like a leak at the condenser, so its hopefully this as it is a common issue on these cars.
