Default Upgrading brakes (~600€)

I plan to do remap on my 2012. D3 (150hp). Was thinking to do sedox tuning (200hp).
Also, would like to upgrade brakes to follow the engine upgrade.. I don't even know in which condition brakes are atm. I am the new owner, car has ~140000km. I just know I need to put brake oil as they told me in service. But I would also definitely like improvement in braking as I am not completely satasfied atm.

Tuning will cost me ~400€ so was thinking to put ~600€ in braking system to round it at 1000 overall.

What would you suggest?
(I see on the internet people modyfing by putting 320mm from V50/S40 or even ford.. should I go that route or just from the shop buy same package or combine different pieces of discs, callipers..). Saw some brembo 320mm discs for ~100€ per disc. Didn't see really many options of callipers.

Should I change just in front or also in the back?

EDIT:

Just read that D3 has 300mm discs.. I thought it's 280. I read in another thread, someone was disappointed by 300->320mm upgrade. Maybe I should just look for new pads and callipers?

I am not a big fan of tunes myself (why not buy the D4 which has 180HP as standard from Volvo?).

However, I don’t think I would be too worried about the upgrade in your shoes. As far as I am aware (do double check) the D3 and D4 brakes were the same between the models so your setup is already rated to 180BHP and you are not going too much above that.

If it were me I would look at getting the brakes bled first if you have been advised of that. Do you know when the brake fluid was last changed? It can make a big difference in its own right.

I have not chipped or modified a car so I am not stating any of this as fact.

Good luck with it all, sounds interesting!

Why do you feel you want to change the brakes? They are are already the massive ones for the 5 cylinder diesel . are you having trouble stopping ?

I upgraded to 320mm discs with the Ford Focus ST brakes and they're pretty damn sharp with braided hoses..

you might want to consider simply buying more aggressive brake pads and higher quality disks. These do offer better brake performance, on the cost of durability

Yeah I will try first with brake fluid.
Why are you not fan of tuning? This 5cyl engine is supposed to be good with it ..

which brake pads would be good? I see actually disk and callipers are pretty big for D3.

Obviously its always good upgrading the brakes for stopping power but for that increase of BHP it seems overkill.

If you feel your brakes arent working that well and you need to upgrade, it might be an idea revisiting what brakes pads and discs you are running. Best brake parts are OEM and also ensuring you have had a recent brake fluid flush.

Brakes lines also tend to go weak on these cars as they are getting old now so its also worth replacing the brake lines if these have never changed. Braided lines are again overkill and the oem lines should be more than upto the job.

So simply put, if you have brake issues on the current setup (Pads / discs etc) replace these with OEM parts and get a brake fluid flush done.
