91 940 turbo estate.
With a heavy heart, Agnes, the Smokey Moose needs a new home.
ULEZ arrives at the end of the month and has put paid to my having this as my only car… if I had a garage or off street parking I wouldn’t be writing this advert. 1991 Volvo 940 Turbo Estate. 2.0L B200FT. AW71L automatic three speed + overdrive + lockup. 180k miles. Grey metallic. Two keys. Original paint, few dings etc, but all panels are straight. Working, non-leaking tilt & slide sunroof. Original stereo system. Supplying dealer plates. Genuine Volvo snow mats. Heated half leather seats. Fold away dog guard. Unused Volvo fire extinguisher in the boot! (Might not trust it after 31 years, but it shows it’s charged). Since I have owned it: Yearly / 6k miles full servicing with OEM parts and oils. Replaced all front end bushes. Recent head gasket & water pump (May 2022) New PCV box. New handbrake cable Re-worked heater control valve (old one leaking, they all do eventually and RHD units are NLA) 5 UniRoyal Rainsport tyres on 15" Draco alloy wheels (Inc. spare) Cam belt and water pump in 2018. Turbo oil return seal (genuine Volvo parts) MBC and Martin Smith chipped boxes. Don't ask me what kind of power output it's making... this was fitted by the previous owner. MBG under dash hidden away. It's set to what it's set at and I'm not interested in what it's doing... but I know it can go when you want it to! Not so goo points: this is a 30 year old car! "Oil leak but not excessive"... show me a Redblock that isn't letting it go from somewhere. Rev counter has never worked since I've owned it. I've looked at getting it repaired and it requires sending off or replacing with a known working one. Rear wiper motor doesn't work any more. It got slow... then stopped completely. Both door pockets were in perfect until a passenger did the inevitable and pushed the door with their foot... and it cracked. PAS can be a bit stiff / heavy on cold mornings. Power antenna is now a manual lift antenna. Has an ancient non-functional alarm system installed. I considered removing it but as I've no idea how it's wired up, I've just left it alone. Will come with various spares. I have recorded and documented all the work I have carried out. Has been entirely reliable in my ownership and has been my daily driver for nearly three years, but the fuel economy and impending ULEZ is the only reason it's got to go to a new home. If I had the space (a garage, off street parking etc) it absolutely would not be getting sold... but that's the reality of it. I will add more pictures once I've given the interior a clean - when it stops raining! Offers in the region of £2000, negotiable/favourable price for a forum member. |

Some pictures. I’ll get some more tomorrow when it’s not hammering it down…
