Hi!
I'm Peter and I'm (or rather was) happy owner of XC60 2017 D5 2.4 ~170kkm. While overtaking, my accessory belt broke. This caused shift in timing about 3-4 teeth which broke the weakest places of cylinder head (I can't name it). The damage can be seen in the photo. I'm faced with a decision whether buy a new cylinder head or used one. The new one is expensive but it will fit for 100%. The used one is much cheaper but here comes another issue - compatibility. My engine version is D5244T20 and I can't find any head from that model (revision no. 20). There are heads from earlier versions (revisions) but I'm afraid they wont fit. Is there anyone who can give me an advice what to do or give hope in this situation? Thanks |

In the UK there is a company called auto tech cylinder heads. They will sell you a refurb head with cams. They will repair your broken head. In my opinion it is the most cost effective repair.
You would have to contact them to see if they will ship to you. https://www.autotechcylinderheads.co...anufacturer=98

Thanks for that. I'll contact them on Monday.
I found out that their website has a different part number than mine. Original number on head is 36010025 (current 31401468 or 36050523). Does anyone know what the difference may be between e.g. 36010025 and 31401466-022? |

I suspect you may eventually find a cheaper one elsewhere, but how much will you save at a possibly greater risk of a subsequent issue ? An important aspect might be, how long do you anticipate keeping the car ? |
