Default Instrument Cluster Mileage and Temp Display Problem

I have a 2005 S60 D5 . Had it for 10 years and yesterday a strange problem appeared on the dash and not gone away.

The two boxes with the mileage / trip distance along with the temp readout etc have going completely crazy , just random characters. All other areas of the dash are working fine. Car drives fine , got an mot in a few weeks so not sure if it will fail for this or not ?.. but really would appreciate if anybody can suggest what might the possible cause and any way to fix this. Thank you .

I have included a photo of the problem .. really weird looking

Default defective DIM

Hi, contact

volvodisgnostic.com. --- in London. they have a very quick turn round if u send them your faulty DIM, It would be returned before your MOT - My 2003 DIM has been with them twice over a number of years.
They are highly recommended on this forum.

DIM means - Driver Information module - the cluster off gauges on the dash.
