Towing with an Amazon estate
Hi all , we towed our classic cheltenham nyala (1000kg) with our amazon estate this weekend and it was fun . Compared to our modern cars the rear end sat a lot lower . Now we have just had new springs (10%uprated) shocks and bushes fitted does anyone know about things like noseweight , the 85% rule for these . Other than that she was fine .
Thanks Jayne and Simon . |

This is what she sat like (as he did not add photos)
and that was without these two in the back - another reason to get an estate |

What is the max noseweight for the Amazon?
As a rule for stability noseweight should be between 4-7% of gross trailer weight so 40-70 kg. Most cars are 75kg and SUV around 100kg but I used to own a Cavalier estate with was a max of 50kg which was fun to load to that low limit. Spring assisters should help.

Have you got the correct springs and bump stops fitted? Amazon estates had heavier duty springs than the saloons, and also had special progressive bump stops.
As for towing / nose weights, nothing is listed in the handbooks (including the extra section for the estates).
