Torque settings for brake calipers 940
I have a 740 with upgraded single piston 940 11" brake/rotor set up. Would anyone know the torque settings for the 2 #10 allen key bolts and the 2 bolts that hold the pad assembly against the rotor. I like to know these settings because it takes the guess work out of doing these repairs. Every bolt on a vehicle must have a torque setting, right?

According to the haynes 1982/1991 Manual (No 1258) the torque wrench settings for the 740 are:
Front Caliper bracket Screws 100Nm 74 lbf ft Rear Caliper Mounting Bolts or Bracket Bolts 58Nm 43lbf ft Use NEW bolts every time.

Front bolts=1273210
Rear bolts=975249 Personally I have never had a problem re-using the original bolts.

If so Haynes 940 manual says torque to 34Nm, but FAQ says 30Nm - take your pick! Last edited by RealEstate; Dec 1st, 2010 at 18:38. |
